KURT STEVENS AKA “CLOSE UP”

Eaton, CO

Hawaii has so much to offer from hitting the beach for an early sunrise or snorkeling at secret local beaches, hiking that takes me to the jungle with waterfalls along the way, I can’t pick just one favorite. I have been a photographer for 15 years. Throughout that time, I’ve enjoyed photographing passionate people and capturing their most significant moments, which is my career and hobby. I love photography, no matter the image or where it takes me. Another thing I enjoy is teaching and encouraging others to explore the world using their cameras and their imagination. I am looking forward to furthering my career and being an established photographer in Hawaii, especially with Oahu PhotoTours.

My Tips For You

This is a phenomenal island, and I cannot begin to tell you everything I love about it and all it has to offer. Here are some of my local gems and favorite places to go.

1) Lanikai Pillbox is excellent for sunrise and then heading to Tropical Tribe for a refreshing Açaí bowl. Something not to be missed is taking some time for yourself to relax and enjoy your surroundings at one of the various lovely beaches.

2) Something else you may want to try is Stand Up Paddle Boarding, also known here as SUP. A great place to do so is in Waikiki, as well as Magic Island. You can rent a Stand-Up paddle on the beach in Waikiki for pretty cheap. Tell them Kurt sent you. They will probably look at you weird but that just means you’re cool.

3) If you are around Waikiki, Ono’s Seafood has notoriously good Poke bowls. If poke is not your thing, Tio’s Tamales has you covered for any Southwest flavor cravings.

4) If you’re looking for more of a hiking adventure, the Kuli’ou’ou RidgeTrail has the views while the Hanauma Bay Ridge Trail hike is an unforgettable open-air experience. Just past Hanauma Bay, Lanai Lookout has awe-inspiring star photography opportunities due to the lack of light pollution in that area. I have no doubts your trip will be extraordinary.

However, I would love to make your trip even better. Please let me know how I can enhance your experience.

Aloha,

Kurt Stevens
